Simon Brouwer Physiotherapist Languages spoken: English and basic French
Wanting to stay involved in sport following a career in ice hockey, Simon completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with a major in Exercise Science at the University of the Fraser Valley in Canada in 2014. Following this he completed a Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy in 2016 at the Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK.
After completing his Master’s Degree Simon practised as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in London working for the National Health Service. Here he developed a passion for post-operative rehab while working closely with orthopaedic surgeons to get individuals back to top form following injury.
Simon believes strongly in patient centred care. This means finding the primary contributing factor for each individual issue while also considering the biopsychosocial factors involved. He finds that a dynamic approach consisting of manual therapy, biomechanical correction, and exercise prescription is key. Simon is passionate about empowering individuals to achieve goals of all varieties ranging from pain management and injury recovery, to return to sport and training advice to enhance performance. He also gets involved with the local sports scene by working with the Kowloon Men's Premier League Rugby Club.
Still a keen athlete himself, Simon maintains his interest for strength and conditioning but has recently transitioned from team sports such as hockey, baseball, and soccer to running. He recently completed an ultra-marathon in the Cascade Mountains of Canada and is taking advantage of the trail running scene here in Hong Kong.
Simon achieved an impressive milestone by becoming the first runner-up in the HYROX men’s DOUBLES challenge with physio colleague Tim in May 2024 in Taiwan, showcasing his strength and endurance in a highly competitive environment. With a passion for pushing his limits, Simon continuously seeks new challenges, inspiring others to pursue their fitness goals.
