Have you heard about HYROX?
HYROX, an elite full-body fitness competition, brings together top athletes from around the world. Participants tackle an arduous 8 x 1km course featuring 8 different functional fitness movements in between each 1km run.
Who can participate in HYROX?
HYROX is the fitness race for everyone. If you are over 16 years old and willing to take on the sporting challenge, you can be part of the HYROX. There are 4 different race formats to choose from, covering every fitness level without a time limit and qualification requirement.
What are the different workouts in HYROX?
HYROX includes a mix of eight 1km runs alternating with eight different workouts. The individual stations are: (1) SkiErg, (2) Sled Push, (3) Sled Pull, (4) Burpee Broad Jumps, (5) Rowing, (6) Farmers Carry, (7) Sandbag Lunges, and (8) Wall Balls.
The running course will lead around the workout stations. Depending on the location, athletes will run multiple laps to complete one kilometre. Both the running track and the individual workout stations are separated from each other.
How should I train for HYROX?
Training for HYROX typically involves:
Can I compete with a partner?
Absolutely! HYROX offers a doubles category where two participants can work together. This can be a great way to support each other during the competition. Our physiotherapists, Tim Lam and Simon Brouwer, showed their seamless teamwork and won the first runner-up in the Men’s DOUBLES in May 2024 in Taiwan.
What if I have an injury?
If you have an injury, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional or physiotherapist before participating. We can help you modify your training and ensure you’re prepared for the competition safely.
The HYROX Hong Kong competition will be this July. Never too late to start to learn more and get prepared! More tips from us in the coming posts. Stay tuned.
