As children grow older, their feet develop, making it crucial to select appropriate school shoes that provide comfort and support. Here are some key factors to consider when choosing shoes for children aged ten and above:

  1. Size Matters: Ensure the shoes fit correctly. Children's feet can grow quickly, so measure them regularly and allow room for growth, typically a thumb's width between the longest toe and the shoe.

  2. Opt for Quality Materials: Look for shoes made from breathable materials like leather or mesh to promote airflow and prevent excessive sweating or odours. Quality materials also enhance durability, ensuring the shoes last longer.

  3. Proper Cushioning and Support: Growing feet need adequate cushioning and arch support. Choose shoes with a cushioned insole and support to promote proper foot alignment and reduce the risk of discomfort or foot-related issues.

  4. Sturdy Soles: Opt for shoes with flexible yet sturdy soles that provide good traction and stability, which helps children maintain balance while walking or engaging in physical activities during school hours.

  5. Consider Velcro: Encourage independence by choosing shoes with Velcro straps that your child can easily manage independently, which promotes self-sufficiency and saves time during hectic mornings.

  6. School Dress Code: Check if your child's school has specific shoe requirements or dress codes. Ensure the chosen shoes adhere to the guidelines to avoid any inconvenience.

  7. Prioritise Comfort: Let your child try on different shoes and consider their feedback. Comfort is key, allowing them to focus on their studies and daily activities without distractions from uncomfortable footwear.

Investing in well-fitted, supportive school shoes for children is essential for their foot health and overall well-being. You're setting them up for a successful and comfortable school experience by prioritising comfort and support!
